C.R.O.P.

Conservation Resource Outreach Program

 

The Rutherford County Soil and Water Conservation District has created a program to assist in the outreach of conservation and agricultural education. The Conservation Resources Outreach Program, also known as “C.R.O.P.,” has been designed to promote agricultural awareness through technical and financial assistance. The program has a hands-on approach in assisting groups and educating them about the importance of agriculture, conservation, and self-sufficiency. There has been great interest shown in this program from an array of educators and individuals throughout the community.

How Can I Participate?

  • You can become an Earth Team Volunteer and assist the Rutherford County Soil and Water Conservation District and the C.R.O.P. participant with their project
  • Your group or your organization can become a participant of “C.R.O.P.”
  • You can refer this program to someone who may be interested.

How Do I Apply for “C.R.O.P.”?

There are a few steps required in becoming a participant of  “C.R.O.P.”. They are simple and easy to complete.

  • Contact the Rutherford County Soil and Water Conservation District for an application packet.
  • Read the materials provided and fill out the application.
  • Create a short term plan of 1 year and a long term plan of 2-5 years (if applicable) for the project which you are requesting assistance for.
  • Then contact the Rutherford County Soil and Water Conservation District office to set up a meeting with the S&WCD board to discuss your project.

What Must I Do After I Become A “C.R.O.P.” Participant?

  • You must maintain records of your project including: success, failure, profits, and events held that pertain to your project.
  • Send a monthly report with pictures to the Board to be reviewed at each monthly board meeting.
  • Keep and maintain a scrapbook of your project. This can be kept via website, CD, emailed pictures or scrapbook.
  • Your group or organization must cooperate with the Rutherford County Soil and Water Conservation District Board and complete all forms and requirements.
