In March of 2008, the Conservation Resources Outreach Program, also known as C.R.O.P., was created by the Rutherford County Soil & Water Conservation Board of Supervisors to assist local groups with technical and financial assistance in promoting Conservation and Agricultural Education. Our partners consist of schools, churches, and special needs groups. Partners in the past have used the assistance to develop gardens as a hands-on teaching aid for math, history, science, etc.

The Rutherford County Soil & Water Conservation District wishes to take every opportunity to provide our youth with education concerning agriculture and conservation. The Rutherford County Soil & Water Conservation District board members believe that our youth of today hold the success and promise of tomorrow. Many youth do not have the opportunity to be involved in agriculture or see how important agriculture is to their everyday life. C.R.O.P. has become a growing success within the community, but only with the interest and participation from educators, youth group leaders, and the general public can we make this a true success in educating our youth about agriculture and conservation.

If you are interested in becoming a C.R.O.P. partner, please feel free to contact us at any time. We are excited to help you start or obtain assistance with your project to educate others about agriculture and conservation. Our hours of operation are Monday-Friday 8:00 am - 4:30 pm. If you wish to speak to one of our past or current C.R.O.P. partners, please contact us at 615-893-9295 ext. 3 and we will be glad to give you their contact information.
